OUR HISTORY

The Susan B. Allen Foundation continues a long history of philanthropy for the Hospital, which began in the late 1920s, when the community recognized a need for a modern hospital. Frank S. Allen, a prominent businessman in the community, contributed land and $100,000 for a hospital named in honor of his mother, Susan B. Allen. In the spirit of community pride and care, the balance of the funds needed to build and equip the hospital was contributed by local citizens.

The Susan B. Allen Memorial Foundation was formed from the El Dorado Area Hospital Services Foundation Inc. on Jan. 1, 2007. The former foundation was comprised of current and past hospital staff and with the change to the SBAMH Foundation, it became a community-led fundraising organization. Now the Foundation Board is comprised of community members, led by an executive director.

With a renewed mission and vision in 2018, the Foundation continues to be dedicated to helping the Hospital fulfill its mission of providing compassionate, professional healthcare to the communities we serve.  Acting as the fundraising arm of SBAMH, the Foundation accepts charitable gifts to be used for maintaining and improving the programs and services at the Hospital that will have a positive impact on the health of our communities.  Partnering with our generous donors improves healthcare options for you, your family, and friends.

Holly Landon, Executive Director

Holly Landon joined the SBA Foundation as the Executive Director in July 2019. She is the former senior director of operations at the Fundamental Learning Center and brings 16 years of nonprofit management experience to the position. Prior to her time at the Fundamental Learning Center, Holly was the director of philanthropic services at Wichita Community Foundation and the director of business services at the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce. In addition to her work experience, Landon also has been active volunteering in her community. She has volunteered with the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce, Junior League of Wichita, Big Brothers Big Sisters, NCAA Division I Women’s Tournament Community Steering Committee, Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, Kansas Humane Society and more. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, integrated marketing communication from Wichita State University. She also has completed Dale Carnegie Leadership Training and been involved with the Institute of Organizational Management, Young Professionals groups, Leadership Elite Program and Center for Management Development at WSU.
